The course will meet the requirements for the State of NJ Board of Social Work Examiners to be certified as an approved supervisor for social workers pursuing their LCSW. Participants can sign up for the entire series or take selected workshops. There will be a $40 ($115 per session) discount if all workshops in the series are attended.
Historically, the supervisory relationship is one of the cornerstones of sound social work education and practice. Beginning with the relationship of a student with their field supervisor to work place supervision, it plays a crucial role in the development of social rkers and the maintaining of the values and ethics of the profession.
Social workers in the field face many challenges in the current marketplace due to the struggles of agencies dealing with the shifts in funding streams and managed care. The impact on agencies and workers has been time and workload constraints. Agencies are struggling to provide supervision to staff and in this context; social workers have neither the support nor time to develop these important skills.
This series will provide the basics of the supervision process along with the more advanced techniques and examination of the ethical issues facing supervisors.
