The Impact Of Stress On Healing

Overview: Much has been written about the impact of stress on healing. Health professionals frequently see clients seeking support in managing their stress. Often clients want to learn how to better manage stress in order to help “heal” a particular physical ailment. This course will offer practitioners an opportunity to define stress, learn how stress affects body, mind and spirit, experience how stress management tools can be used in health care settings and explore the impact of these tools on healing.

Objectives: Participants will: 1) differentiate between acute and chronic stress; 2) explore the physical, mental and spiritual impact of stress; 3) explore a variety of stress management techniques; 4) learn how to integrate stress management into your work; 5) experience a variety of stress management techniques; and 6) learn about many excellent stress management resources.

Lara Krawchuk, MSW, LSW, MPH, is founder and owner of Healing Concepts, LLC. Her practice focuses on professional compassion fatigue, chronic and life-threatening illness, grief and loss, mind/body medicine and stress management. She is an adjunct professor for Advanced Clinical Practice and Loss and Crisis Intervention classes at the School of Social Policy & Practice. She lectures frequently on issues of compassion fatigue, physical illness, caregiving, grief, and stress management.
