SP2 Speaker Series
The SP2 Speaker Series offers conversations about race, equity, and justice with experts on social policy and social work. Each virtual 60-minute session includes a discussion and Q&A portion moderated by Ben Jealous, with an introduction from SP2 Dean Sara S. Bachman and a closing from SP2 Associate Dean for Inclusion Jerri Bourjolly.
Weitzman Speaker Series in High Impact Philanthropy
The Weitzman Speaker Series in High Impact Philanthropy was implemented by SP2 in collaboration with the Center for High Impact Philanthropy (CHIP) and endowed by Stuart Weitzman, a 1963 graduate of the Wharton School. The series aims to highlight the ways in which different philosophies and passions are expressed through the practice of high impact philanthropy.
On an annual basis, Kat Rosqueta, founding executive director of CHIP, speaks with leaders who are making a philanthropic impact on important social issues through candid, fireside chat-style events. Events are open to all Penn students.
NPL Faculty-Led Lunch & Learn
Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership (NPL) Faculty-Led Lunch & Learn events bring together students, faculty, and community partners to collaborate and learn. During each event, students are encouraged to think about new ideas and concepts they learned, what they may do differently based on their learning, how their learning will help impact the communities they serve, and how the learning changed their thinking.
Events are held virtually several times per semester.
MSSP Speaker Series
The Master of Science in Social Policy offers a Social Policy Speaker Series designed to provide a space to spotlight some of the cutting-edge scholarship and work being done in social policy and on issues of social justice. The invited guests of the speaker series are policy experts and social scientists from around the world who are committed to promoting equity and creating positive, effective, and enduring policy change. The MSSP program community engages with each of the invited guests.
Events are held in-person twice per semester. Although the events are catered to the SP2 community, they are open to anyone interested in the scholarship.

Jisung Park, an assistant professor at Penn’s School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2), encourages us to view climate change through a different lens: one that focuses less on the possibility of mass climate extinction in a theoretical future, and more on the everyday implications of climate change here and now.
