The primary goal of this evaluation was to understand the impact of Belmont Charter School Family Support Services on students when compared with students from a demographically similar elementary school. The secondary and related goal of the evaluation was to understand the impact of the program on the families and communities involved. The evaluation consisted of both process and outcome components, which engendered both qualitative (descriptive and narrative) and quantitative (causal and numerical) findings. The process component described the programmatic model of the family support services at the Belmont Charter School, while the outcome component quantified results from interviews with students, teachers, administrators, parents and support services staff. The Cartographic Modeling Lab provided data to produce a spatial, contextual analysis of the neighborhood surrounding both Belmont and geographically similar public schools.
