100 for 100 Annual Fund Centennial Campaign

“100 for 100” Annual Fund Centennial Campaign

In celebration of 100 years of Social Work education at Penn, the School of Social Policy & Practice has launched the “100 for 100” Annual Fund Centennial Campaign. The purpose of this Campaign is to raise an unprecedented one million dollars in scholarship support from social work alumni by 2010. This increase in graduate financial aid will greatly impact the School by allowing it to continue to recruit and retain the best and brightest students, most of whom demonstrate financial need. The subsequent burden relieved from the School’s operating budget will enhance alumni programming, improve curriculum, as well as other areas such as facilities, faculty – each of which help to maintain and enhance the value of your Penn/Social Work/SP2 degree.

In honor of the Centennial, SP2 is erecting a “Centennial Wall” – the first of its kind at the School. The “Centennial Wall” will serve as both a recognition vehicle and historical memento. It will be a replica of the original School of Social Work building on Pine Street in Philadelphia, made out of beautiful ceramic tiles.

The Wall is an effort to engage the entire SP2 community of alumni, friends, faculty, etc. SP2 alumni who give a gift of $400 or more to the Annual Fund can have their name/s engraved in perpetuity on this awesome artwork, which will be viewed by everyone entering the School of Social Policy & Practice building for many years to come.

If you are interested in being on the Wall, click here and give your gift of $400 or more on-line. To activate a pledge with $100.00 (balance payable by 2010) please contact Tim Wortham, Annual Giving Officer at worthamt@sp2.upenn.edu, at 215-898-5526 or mail your check for $100.00 (put “wall pledge” in the memo) to:

FAQS

Where does my Annual Fund contribution go?
Annual Fund gifts are designed to increase financial aid support.

How is my gift recognized?
All donors to the Annual Fund are listed in the Honor Roll in our “Annual Publication”. Also, all gifts of $400 or more, made payable by June 2010 will be listed in perpetuity on our Centennial Wall.

Can I choose to give anonymously?
Yes, you have the option of not having your name/gift listed in any way. Simply make that request known in writing when you send in your gift. We will have a record that you contributed, but that information will remain private.

How can I make a gift to the Annual Fund?
There are three ways to make a gift to the Annual Fund.

How can I find out information on my giving history?
Contact Tim Wortham at 215-898-5526 or worthamt@sp2.upenn for information on gifts you have made to the Annual Fund.

How can I find out about upcoming school events?
There will be a regularly updated events calendar on the school’s website. Please check it regularly for school events and well as Centennial events.

How can I get my name on the Centennial Wall?
Any gift or pledge of $400 or more will be recognized on the Centennial Wall unless the donor requests not to have their name appear. All gifts must be paid in full by September 2010 in order to have the donor’s name appear.

Can I give a gift in honor of someone else and have their name appear on the wall instead of mine?
Absolutely! As the donor, you dictate to us whose name you would like to appear and how you would like it to appear. If you would like to list someone other than yourself, simply specify at the time the gift is made.

What are Centennial Leaders Receptions?
We are currently looking for alumni who are willing to host receptions in their homes for local alumni. These receptions will be informal “information sessions” of sorts to make our alumni aware of what is going on at the School. We would discuss upcoming events, the Centennial and any other relevant topics at the time of the reception. Centennial Wall gifts will also be accepted at the receptions.
