The SP2 community is delighted to welcome Dean Jackson to the School. Many of us have had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Jackson and look forward to working with him. Dean Jackson is not new to Penn, having joined the University in 2006 as the first University Professor of the Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) program, an initiative developed to recruit preeminent faculty who have appointments in two Penn schools and who harness tools from different disciplines and professional perspectives to address compelling societal challenges. As an interdisciplinary school, SP2 is honored to welcome such an eminent scholar, who has written and taught about urban conflict and change in the digital age, visual culture and forms of scholarly filmmaking, theories of racism's social impact, the anthropology of urban religion, and critical approaches to ethnographic research methods. Welcome, Dean Jackson!
