In January, 2006, Philadelphia's After School/Youth Development Network hosted its first "Peer Networking Meeting." The purpose of these meetings has been to give out-of-school time (OST) staff an opportunity to meet one another, share challenges and victories, and develop new relationships.
Currently, Philadelphia's Peer Networking Meetings are being held every other month and feature panel discussions ranging from "Youth Voice & Choice" to "Behavior Management." These meetings continue as informal meeting and sharing opportunities for administrative as well as frontline staff. Moreover, attending Peer Networking Meetings now automatically counts toward formal training credit hours.

Research, conducted by the OSTRC and others, suggests that out-of-school time (OST) staff regard peer networking as a vital part of their professional development. However, physical networking meetings are sometimes inconvenient, highly specialized, and/or designed for small audiences. For staff who prefer "virtual" networking, the OSTRC has established the OSTRC-EBB as a forum for discussion, idea-sharing, and problem-solving among the OST community.
- The OSTRC-EBB invites participation from both administrative and direct-service staff.
- Discussion topics can range from classroom management tips to new curriculum, research, and funding resources.
- Questions directed to the OSTRC "Helpline" may, with permission, be posted on the OSTRC-EBB.
