Funding - November 2009

Achieve Grant. Achieve, an Indianapolis-based consulting firm serving the needs of nonprofit organizations with new and emerging fundraising programs, invites nonprofit organizations to apply for the firm’s services grant. They will provide a year of services free of charge to two organizations selected through an application process. Awards: Coaching services – 10 hours of time valued at $2,000; Consulting services – 1 year valued at $12,000. Deadline: Nov 15

 

The Big Read. This program of the National Endowment for the Arts in cooperation with Arts Midwest is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations to conduct month-long community projects between September 2010 and June 2011. The Big Read is a national program designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture. Award: $20-25,000. Deadline Feb 2

Responsible Sports Community Grants. Nonprofit youth sports organizations or educational athletic programs can become eligible for grants by asking coaches and parents to complete the "Responsible Sports" online coursework. Organizations must serve the community at large and be open to the general public. Deadline: Nov 30


Communities Putting Prevention to Work. This public health initiative of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will support projects that improve the health of children and communities. Funded projects will focus on obesity, physical activity and nutrition among young people and will address tobacco prevention and control. Deadline: Dec 1


Opportunities Industrialization Centers of America Awarded 1M from the Strengthening Communities Fund. The grant award will assist OICA in its selection of 15 new and emerging Philadelphia- based grassroots nonprofit organizations with budgets under $500,000. The selected organizations will receive one-on-one technical assistance, group seminar training and financial assistance sub-awards along with one year of follow-up services.

 

Richard Riley Awards. The American Architectural Foundation, in partnership with KnowledgeWorks Foundation, honors school buildings that serve as centers of their community by providing a rich array of social, civic, recreational and artistic opportunities to the public. Deadline: Dec 1


Home Depot Foundation Building Healthy Communities Grant Program. The Home Depot Corporation seeks to improve the physical health of communities by supporting organizations that are planting trees, developing green spaces, and updating school facilities and community centers. Deadline: Dec 15
