Jed Johnson, Easter Seals Assistant Vice President of Adult and Senior Services, was recently honored with the Ruth Von Behren Award, created in 1992 to recognize the personal achievements and commitment of individuals in the field of Adult Day Services. Adult Day Services are community-based group programs that meet the needs of older adults through medical, social and support services in a protective, day-time setting. Under Johnson’s leadership, Easter Seals has become the largest provider of adult day services in the nation with more than 75 centers across 25 states.

“Jed continues to raise the bar on service delivery for older adults and is an active spokesperson and working partner with organizations nationwide, said James E. Williams, president and chief executive officer, Easter Seals. “He has a true passion for helping older adults, people with disabilities and their family caregivers.”

Johnson also plays a leadership role for Easter Seals’ Transportation Solutions for Caregivers project, funded through the Administration on Aging’s National Family Caregiver Support Program and the Retirement Research Foundation.  Prior to joining Easter Seals, he was with the Jewish Association on Aging in Pittsburgh where he was vice president of home and community services.

Johnson has served as the chair of the National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA), a member of the CARF Board of Trustees and now sits on their International Advisory Committee, participates in Generations United’s program committee and recently joined the Board of the American Society on Aging.  He holds a joint-masters degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Work and business administration from the Wharton School of Business.  He is a frequent speaker at local, state, regional, national, and international forums.
