Mary Mazzola is the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and Global Outreach at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2). Dr. Mazzola is an alumnus of SP2, as she earned her Master of Social Work degree from the School. She also received her Ed.D. in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Prior to working at Penn, Dr. Mazzola practiced in the health care arena. She has extensive clinical and administrative experiences that include positions as a medical and psychiatric social worker, associate social work director and department director in hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dr. Mazzola expanded her administrative portfolio and was promoted to quality management director at a Philadelphia teaching hospital and served on a senior management team for five years. This responsibility enabled her to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and health care executives. Dr. Mazzola returned to the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 as a part-time lecturer for required and elective courses in the Human Behavior Sequence of the MSW program. In 2000, Dr. Mazzola began her full-time tenure. As the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and Global Outreach, she oversees the admission and recruitment functions for all five degree programs offered at the School, collaborates with colleagues on global issues and presents at international forums. Most recently, she also teaches classes and seminars in mental health. Dr. Mazzola’s research and scholarly interests include social work in health care, mental health, and the internationalization of higher education.
