Clinical DSW Program
Curriculum
The DSW program is a full-time course of study with no part-time study option available. Students complete 14 course units and the dissertation in three years. There are five required core courses, along with a series of modules, proseminars and dissertation workshops. The core courses are: Theory for Clinical Social Work I & II; Clinical Research I & II; and Social Statistics. The proseminars, dissertation workshops and integrative seminar provide students with the knowledge and mentoring needed to complete their dissertations. In the second year of the program all courses are taught in modules that meet one weekend a month. Full-time status continues in the third year, as students complete the course modules and dissertation. The integrative seminar during the final semester of the program is the last step toward defense of the dissertation.
All of the courses, modules, and dissertation proseminars are scheduled during times that are convenient for working professionals. During fall and spring of the first year of study, classes are scheduled once a week from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm. In the second and third year of study, classes are scheduled in once-a-month blocks that run from Thursday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.
