Biographical Sketch
Beverly D. Frazier

Beverly D. Frazier is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania and a pre-dissertation fellow in the Program for Research on Religion and Urban Civil Society and the Program for Religion and Social Policy Research. She has worked on several criminal justice research projects, either as a co-investigator or research assistant, including examining prisoner reentry within the Philadelphia Prison System, the financial impact of residential treatment for state prisoners, residential segregation, and faith-based reentry. She has been awarded several research grants and fellowships. Most recently, she was awarded a grant by the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office for the Reentry of Ex-Offenders to examine the city’s community institutional capacity for pro-social ex-offender reintegration.

She served on the University’s Affirmative Action Committee, School of Social Policy & Practice student representative to the Graduate Group and the 2006 and 2003 conference chair for the Fontaine Society, of which she is a doctoral fellow. A 2001 M.Div., graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, she served on the Student Government executive board as the first African American Student-Faculty Liaison. She also served as the student representative to the Student and Academic Affairs Committee. Previously at PTS, she was appointed and elected, to the Black Concerns Council and the executive board of the Associations of Black Seminarians respectively. Religion and Society was her focal area of study. 

Before returning to school for fulltime study, Beverly worked for the City of Jersey City as a public information officer and the assistant director for the Department of Neighborhood Improvement. In both positions, she interfaced with the community on behalf of the municipal government as a spokesperson and solving problems and improving their quality of life. She received recognition from the Hudson County Urban League as well as her employer for outstanding work. During that time, she initiated, organized, and was the first president of the North Jersey Blacks in Government (NJBIG). NJBIG is a national organization of Black government employees whose objective was the improvement of work conditions for its members and the communities in which they lived. She also served on the advisory board of the Jersey City People and Police Commission, which worked to improve relationships between the police and the community, and help them work together to ensure public safety.

As the founder and president of African Americans in Public Relations at AT&T, Beverly led the entire African American public relations staff in areas of profile improvement, awareness and understanding, and career advancement. She quickly gained both the support and recognition of her employer and peers of ten years. Beverly had served in management positions at AT&T since 1985, in the areas of sales and marketing, public relations and human resources (affirmative action, diversity and equal opportunity.) Throughout her career, she gained many awards and honors. Beverly joined AT&T after she completed her bachelor degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University. She continued her education at Brenau University in Gainesville, GA where she completed a Masters in Business Administration. A witness of her passion and skills in the study of leadership and organization development, Beverly is a certified Covey facilitator for the 7Habits of Highly Effective People.

Beverly has served in numerous leadership positions in educational institutions, church, community and the work place since high school. She as served on the allocation committee for the Somerset United Way, board of directors for Bethesda Christian Academy, and both tutor and tutor trainer for Literacy Volunteers of America just to name a few. Her proven record as an outstanding organizer and administrator enhances her strengths as an orator and spokesperson.

Beverly was born in Savannah, Georgia, which she still considers home. She presently resides in Voorhees, New Jersey.
