Computing - Guide to my Penn accounts
These accounts are listed roughly in the order you'll be using them.
Campus Express PIN - This is your Personal Identification Number (PIN) given to you in the Campus Express packet mailed to you. You use it to create your PennNetwork ID and password. For more info on how to access, obtain, or reset you'd visit www.campusexpress.upenn.edu
PennNetwork ID and Password - This is essentially your "university account" which provides access to many important services. Initially you'll use it to setup many of the services offered through campus express such as Housing and Dining. If you forget your password, no one can look it up for you. You must assign yourself a new password at one of the PennNetwork ID stations including the Penn Card ID center.
SP2 E-mail - Your School of Social Policy & Practice E-mail will be the same as your PennNetwork ID but please note that it's distinct from it. The passwords can be different. Please visit www.sp2.upenn.edu/resources/computing/newstudents on how to create your e-mail account. The School requires you to have a Penn e-mail address in order to place you properly on our e-mailing lists. You do have the option of forwarding your Penn e-mail to your personal account. Please contact Albert Louie, at B36 Caster Building or call 215-898-7405 or e-mail louie@sp2.upenn.edu It's guaranteed to be quick and painless.
Penn-in-Touch account - This account is automatically created and handled by the University Registrar. Penn-in-Touch is an on-line system for registration, transcript, bursar bill, and schedule information. Your Student Identification Number is your social security number, and your password is initially your birth date in 6 digit format (i.e. 121976 for December 19, 1976). You may access this system off of Penn's main homepage. www.upenn.edu Problems with this account should be directed to the University Registrar (not the School of Social Policy & Practice registrar) at (215) 898-7511
GSE Computer Lab account - The School of Social Policy & Practice has an arrangement with the Graduate School of Education to use their computer lab facilities. Your username will be similar to your PennNetwork ID. Please note that this account is also distinct from it. The password can be different but it doesn't have to be. We will be sending out an announcement on details for setting up this account. For more info about the lab, polices, location and hours please visit http://www.gse.upenn.edu/computing/lab.html
Library - This account it automatically created for you and handled by the University Library and is for accessing many of the Library's resources from OFF-Campus. In most cases your Username is your last name in lower case and your password is the last 10 digits of your Penn Card. When using the Library's main page http://www.library.upenn.edu/ follow the link for Off-campus access.
PennKey - During Fall 2002 the University will be converting PennNetwork IDs into another account called Pennkeys. More info about Pennkeys, and transition will be made available, when it's available. The eventual goal is to make it so that your Pennkey will be your single account you'd use to access everything. (and then you can forget about all the other accounts)
