PhD Student Handbook

Joint MSW/PhD

Students may apply for the joint MSW/Ph.D. program after completion of the first semester of the MSW program. Under special circumstances, students may apply to the joint MSW/Ph.D. program at the time of admission to the MSW program. After completing the first year (foundation) MSW curriculum, joint MSW/Ph.D. students begin to take Ph.D. level courses in their second year of study. Upon satisfactory completion of the MSW advanced level curriculum, students receive the MSW degree and continue full time in doctoral courses. Course and examination requirements for MSW/Ph.D. students are identical to those of full-time Ph.D. students.
