SP2 welcomes new staff
Isabel Boston, Registrar, received her BA in Humanities from Penn and has worked at the University since 2000. Prior to joining SP2 she served as Records Assistant for the Student Records Office in the Graduate School of Education, and then as Administrative Coordinator for the Urban Studies Program in the School of Arts & Sciences. As Registrar for SP2, she focuses on efficient service to students and alumni. Boston is the director of a mixed-voice choir at St. Francis de Sales church in West Philadelphia, a post she has held since 1998. Boston and her husband have four sons and a daughter and are currently raising their 16-month-old granddaughter, Hazel, who occasionally makes visits to the Caster building to liven things up. |
Theresa Convery, Administrative Coordinator, Development and Alumni Relations,conducts frontline customer service for various members of the SP2 community. She is responsible for the coordination of all administrative office procedures for the SP2 Development Team, including gift processing. She serves as lead project coordinator for SP2’s Board of Overseer Meetings and Alumni Weekend activities. In addition, she manages SP2’s professional and social networking sites. Theresa is very familiar with both Penn and the Development and Alumni Affairs landscape. She previously worked in Wharton’s Office of External Affairs where she served under the tutelage of two Associate Deans of Development and Alumni Relations. |
Katherine Ferriter, Recruitment Coordinator, Admissions & Recruitment,earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Bates College. Prior to joining the admissions staff at SP2, Ferriter worked in political consulting as manager of fundraising efforts for a Senatorial and Congressional re-election campaign. Ferriter conducts alumni interviews for Bates College and volunteers for Philadelphia Futures, a nonprofit, first-generation college mentor program. She is currently completing her Master’s in Education Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education at Villanova University. |
Mona Freedman, Administrative Assistant, Field Education Office, provides administrative support to the Field Education Office. Freedman graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and came to Penn in 2001. Prior to joining SP2, she worked as the Business Administrator for the Comptroller’s Office, the Financial Coordinator for Programs and Special Events and as Administrative Assistant in the Penn Fund. She enjoys photography, biking and fiber arts in her spare time. |
Laurie Jensen, Administrative Coordinator, Academic Affairs, offers support to the Associate Dean and Associate Director of Academic Affairs, as well as standing faculty and part-time instructors. In addition, she performs administrative tasks directly related to the Caster building and other staff at SP2. Prior to joining the SP2 team, Jensen served as the Program Administrator for Boston University’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program and Program Manager for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. She earned her degree in Archaeology and Classical Civilization from Boston University. She is currently working towards a Master's degree in Classical Studies at Penn. |
Aldis Kurmis, Grants Manager, manages the grant post-award process for SP2. Before coming to the University of Pennsylvania, he worked for the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District in Minnesota managing several grant programs to help facilitate the construction of natural resource conservation projects. Kurmis received a B.A. in Global Studies and a minor in Business Management from the University of Minnesota. |
Bart Miltenberger, Associate Director, Development and Alumni Relations, is a Penn College of Arts and Sciences graduate with 12 years experience in Development and Alumni Relations experience at the University. In his new position he secures major gift support for SP2 oversees the annual Class Giving Campaign, manages Corporate and Foundation relations, and is responsible for SP2’s stewardship. Prior to joining SP2, Miltenberger worked in Penn’s Alumni Relations office with Penn alumni clubs and their alumni leaders. Miltenberger is a trumpet player and a father of three boys. |
Anne Weiss, Director of Field Education, received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. Her area of practice experience is health care and she has provided clinical services and supervision to students and staff on a variety of inpatient and outpatient services. Weiss returned to SP2 in 2003 to work in the Field Education Office and Admissions Department for the MSW program. She also co-teaches a seminar for new field instructors. |
