Women in Social Work
Women in Social Work is a social and advocacy
group comprised of students who wish to serve as a supportive
base for women in the School of Social Policy & Practice. The purpose of the group is to deal
with women's issues in the social work profession, the influence
of sexism in society, and to explore feminist ideology in a
modern context. Women in Social Work plans programs solely and
in collaboration with other organizations around issues concerning
women. Women in Social Work promotes the exploration of women's
issues by showing national and international films on a bimonthly
basis that explore universal issues including: female roles,
feminism, sexuality, cultural identity, sexism, heterosexism,
racism, and poverty.
