“The Clinician” Podcast

Welcome to “The Clinician”, a podcast from the Doctorate in Clinical Social Work (DSW) students at University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. Join us as we interview professional social workers and doctoral candidates whose efforts continue to shape the ever-evolving world of social work through practice and research. Use this podcast to learn where innovative, interdisciplinary social workers are thriving and information about the DSW Program from the perspective of students. This episode features an interview with Dr. Erin Cross, Director of University of Pennsylvania’s LGBTQ+ Center. Interviewed by 2018 DSW Candidate, Kerryann Silvestri, listen as they explore ways that Social Workers can support LGBTQ+ students in the school setting. In addition, Dr. Cross identifies the breadth of services offered by Penn’s LGBTQ+ Center.

In this episode, Ciji Blue, a 2nd year DSW candidate, interviews the Dissertation Advisor for the University of Pennsylvania’s DSW Candidates. Dr. Marcia Martin, Dean Emeritus of Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work & Social Research, has spent over 35 years in clinical practice, social work research, and academia. She devotes her time generously to helping students transform concepts and big ideas into a finished product. Listen as Dr. Martin gives best practices on Dissertation Dos & Don’ts.

In this episode, Sara Bartlett garners the perspectives of DSW candidates from all cohorts to discuss their student experiences. Listen as students share their viewpoint of the program and discuss common difficulties such as managing deadlines, workload balancing, and future endeavors as social work researchers.
