An alumna of The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice, Laura has taught at SP2 for the past ten years. Starting her career at a leading pediatric hospital, Laura provided medical social work and therapeutic interventions to Children and Adolescents living with HIV/AIDS for over 10 years developing her skills in high acuity hospital based social work practice, as well as psychotherapy. Throughout her career, Laura has been engaged in practicing with diverse populations, providing both general therapeutic and trauma specific services for the Transgender community, for grieving parents who had lost their infants, and individuals facing homelessness.
Laura teaches a variety of courses focusing on life span and social emotional development, children and adolescents, human behavior, techniques in brief treatment and crisis intervention as well as both first and second year practice.
Laura is also the Chairperson Emeritus of the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. Ms. Hinds was honored to have served this group responsible for protecting the state’s consumer population from unlawful and unethical practice for 9 nine years in this regulatory role.
