Headshot of Maofeng Lin

Maofeng Lin, MSSP+DA’17

  • Management Associate, DBS Bank (Hong Kong)

Milford Maofeng Lin grew up in Shenzhen, China and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Renmin University of China. At college, Maofeng interned in different industries from financial services to global think tank, but eventually found his passion in policy and data analytics. While completing his MSSP+DA degree, Maofeng interned with Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center, where he was able to analyze different data projects and the US-Asia Institute on the Hill to develop competency in Sino-US relationship from the trade perspective. Last summer, he applied through Penn Global Internship Program and ended up interning at a leading venture capital firm in Singapore, where he was exposed to a investment deal by conducting the due diligence process.

After graduating from SP2, Maofeng joined DBS Bank (Hong Kong) as Management Associate and will rotate among Institutional Banking Group as well as Treasury and Markets.

“Looking back on my two-year journey with MSSP+DA, my key takeaway is that it keeps challenging my perceptions and leading me to analyze policies at diverse levels. The data analytical courses, the ones I struggled the most with due to my liberal arts background at college, opened up a new world and equipped me with marketable skillsets that eventually helped me launch my first career. The programming tools are highly valued and during my interviews people are interested in my coursework projects that I‘ve been exposed to.

“I can’t find a better cohort with diverse background, intellectual insights, and passionate voices. I was fortunate to work seamlessly with them and get the mentoring throughout our conversations. I couldn’t possibly think of a more fantastic way to spend my two years other than SP2.”
