Ethan Plaue, PhD
Ethan Plaue is a doctoral candidate in the English Department at the University of Pennsylvania and a lecturer in the MSSP program. He teaches the course MSSP 710: Democratizing Data? Critical Data Studies in Algorithmic Governance, which explores the increasing power of computational analytics in governance and control. His research focuses on developing a revisionary history of the mediation concept, especially in relation to early nineteenth-century transformations in economic and racial regimes. Before coming to UPenn, he received an MFA in poetry at the University of Iowa where he taught English literature and creative writing.
