Montana Tamny, MPA, MSW, BSW

  • Montana Tamny is a recent graduate of the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and is joining the CSIS team after participating in a Penn Impact Lab this spring. Prior to studying at Penn, Montana served in the Peace Corps as a Youth Development Facilitator, before teaching for several years in Baltimore and Camden. As a special educator, she focused on developing a social-emotional learning curriculum to meet the unique emotional and behavioral needs of her students. After five years of teaching, she switched to the nonprofit sector, where her work in Philadelphia schools led her to the Fels Institute. She is passionate about mentorship, community, and the intersection of travel and education, having participated in numerous service trips and study abroad experiences herself. Montana holds an MPA from the University of Pennsylvania, an MSW from the University of Maryland, and a BSW from Elizabethtown College. In her free time, she likes to read, explore, and snuggle with her dog.
