Democratic economists: checks, please. And soon.
A group of prominent economists, including high-profile names from Democratic and liberal policy circles, said in an open letter Monday another round of direct cash aid to households is necessary to boost the U.S. economy.
Other signers included Ioana Marinescu, an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania; Robert Pollin, co-director of the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Masschusetts Amherst and Darrick Hamilton, professor of economics and urban policy at The New School.
