From village icon to global acclaim, this promising young Ghanaian leader keeps soaring while saving lives

The first person from his Ghanaian village to attend college, Shadrack Frimpong graduated from Penn in 2015 as a recipient of Amy Gutmann’s President’s Engagement Prize.

Frimpong has garnered recognition from Queen Elizabeth II of England (2018 Queen’s Young Leader Award), former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the U.S. White House, Ghana’s Jubilee House, Ghana Legacy Honours (2017 Future Award) and many others.

He’s now pursuing a master’s in non-profit leadership at Penn’s School of Social Policy & Practice so that he can better guide Cocoa360, the organization he founded to facilitate access to education and health care through cocoa plantations.
